The US. Bureau of Labor Statistics has reported that healthcare workers are victims of 73% of all workplace violence incidents and are 5 times as likely to suffer injuries requiring absence from work than other sectors of employment. The data suggests that violence is increasing every year, and the worst part is that studies show it is being underreported by 88% or more.
It's very clear that existing workplace violence prevention programs do not adequately prepare healthcare professionals to stay safe. The physical skills currently being taught are unrealistic and dangerously ineffective. As a result, when de-escalation fails and staff members are assaulted, they are forced to respond with physical actions that are not within organizational policy, at which point they risk termination of employment in essence, every time they are attacked, they must choose between their safety and their job. Understandably, this harsh reality affects employees morale which, over time, affects the culture of an entire organization.
This seminar is a gift to those who need it the most.
